Ancient Europeans called Samarkand the Land of Scientists and it was the leading centre for science of its time with many innovations in medicine and astronomy. We wanted to express this culture of innovation and tradition through the branding and interior design. The branding is based upon the ceiling of Ulugh Beg’s observatory – a world heritage site, and many of the materials and carvings within the restaurant were created in Samarkand by Uzbek artisans and brought to London.
