Third Man Records London yellow storefront in Soho, retail design by BusbyWebb

The Brief
Third Man Records, the Nashville-born independent label founded by Jack White, chose London's Carnaby Street: a district with its own deep musical heritage and culture-driven footfall for their first store outside of the US. The brief required a fully experiential retail and live music venue worthy of the brand.

Design Approach
Working with Jack White's personal vision, BusbyWebb led the interior application and bespoke furniture design across the two floor venue. The glossy automotive yellow exterior, the label's signature, announces the store from the street whilst inside, a DIY recording booth allows customers to cut their own tracks direct to vinyl. A retrofitted 'yellow' phone box plays audio of Jack White speaking, and a coin-operated book vending machine dispenses titles using bespoke coins embossed with Dick Van Dyke's profile. Downstairs, the 'Blue Basement' is an intimate gig space with a fully equipped mini-stage for live events.

The Outcome
Third Man Records London operates as shop, venue, and cultural destination giving people multiple reasons to visit and return. Since opening in September 2023, it has become one of London's most distinctive independent retail destinations due to its strong brand narrative.
